導言:
在國外,人們都管話題作文和論文統(tǒng)稱Essay。Essay可以看做是說明文,也可以是議論文??傮w來說就是引用別的事物來證明某個觀點。
一篇Essay的主要組成有三部分,introduction(introductory paragraph),a body (at least one ,but usually two or more paraphs),and a conclusion(concluding paragraph)。
Essay的好壞很大程度上決定了一個人的申請成功與否,約占整個申請70%的分量。Essay寫的好壞除了跟學生自己的經(jīng)歷有關(guān),還要看你如何選材、如何使材料看起來豐富又沒有重復感、哪些事例是美國人所接受和欣賞的、如何用3—4篇的Essay來展示你的獨特。這些都需要你在下筆前好好斟酌。
本科生Essay寫作的總的原則就是一定要圍繞著自己的特點來進行規(guī)劃和寫作,要突出自己在性格方面的優(yōu)勢和特點,同時挖掘素材,不能寫成千篇一律的毫無特色的“流水賬”式的文章。沒能夠挖掘出你自身的素材,或者未能徹底對你進行審視,都會導致缺乏個性的大眾化。比如文章中出現(xiàn)下列幾種描述,都不會對你有任何幫助,因為這些使人厭倦的陳詞濫調(diào),重復幾乎每個申請者都能夠得出的平常結(jié)論,比如:旅行開闊了我的視野,使我有機會接觸不同的文化;這次經(jīng)歷告訴我,努力奮斗和堅定的信念能幫助我實現(xiàn)心中的任何目標;與來自不同文化背景的同學一起學習,使我理解了多樣性的真正價值。上述這些情況是一般申請者經(jīng)常會出現(xiàn)的。專業(yè)文書寫作可以有效的挖掘你的與眾不同之處,從而規(guī)劃出具有鮮明個人特色的申請Essay。強烈建議申請者從現(xiàn)在就開始回顧一下自己曾經(jīng)寫過的日記或者隨筆,或者回憶一些過去曾經(jīng)令你十分難忘的生活細節(jié),想法或者經(jīng)歷,這些都能作為Essay的素材。

Think outside the box as you answer the following questions. Take a risk and go somewhere unexpected. Be serious if the moment calls for it but feel comfortable being playful if that suits you, too. The required length for question 3 is 200-250 words.
